In depth

Verdict

Intimidate is clearly the best of those with previous experience but he's not really progressed in his last two runs, which is a bit of a worry. We'd rather take a chance on Sir Michael Stoute's debutant PERSEPOLIS, who is from the same family as top miler Grand Lodge and still holds an entry in this month's Racing Post Trophy. There is plenty of speed in Red Valerian's pedigree while Tenor is out of a winning miler in France and could be a better long-term prospect than Roger Varian's other runner Duroble Man. Mazaaher will almost certainly do better next year.
