      Verdict

      Purple 'n Gold and Hawdyerwheesht are both winning hurdlers but make their fencing debuts today. Foxtail Hill should improve on his run at Newton Abbot but BROUGHTON, a very useful juvenile hurdler, made a winning start over the larger obstacles at Stratford despite taking time to warm to his task. He may have too much pace for Owen Na View, who was placed over further in a handicap at Southwell last week.
