In depth

Verdict

A wide open bumper where it looks best to go by the maxim of those who are proven in his field, and as a result we will take a chance on Jonjo O'Neill-trained New Time to make a winning debut. The trainer has a good record at the track and in this sort of race, and with Be My Native in the bloodlines he looks sure to enjoy this faster ground. With little else standing out off the page then if you must have a bet he looks worth chancing. French Envoy stayed on well on this type of ground last time out and will have come on for that. With the talented Jamie Moore in the plate he can improve and take closer order here, though he has a fair bit to find with Troodos Valley, who finished two places in front of him there and is learning quickly. The latter may be the biggest danger to the selection. Bishop's Bridge is not without a chance on his Kempton second two runs ago and seems likely to appreciate this faster ground, but we will chance our arm with debutante New Time.
