In depth

Verdict

Conditions are spot on for Eau Pure to get back in front here, with course winner Thumper, Macnance and Khaysar all likely to go well. Eau Pure loves to hear his hooves rattle and was a winner on good to firm at Fontwell last month. He is having his fifth outing since then here, but takes his racing well and is consistent off this sort of mark. None of his subsequent runs have been on this type of ground and it looks likely that he will go better this time and he gets the nod. Thumper is another who loves faster ground. Jonjo O'Neill's gelding picked up a novices' contest over two miles here last August and has been put away since being pulled up at Huntingdon in October. He has gone well fresh in the past and will not be far away here. Macnance is another to consider. He loves this trip and goes on most going with good in the description. However he just looks to have a little too much weight at present, though he can run into the frame. Of the others, Khaysar looks most interesting. Due to go up 6lb very soon, he is potentially well in here with a feather weight, acts well on the ground and in genuine. He could give the selection most to do, but we are happy to side with Eau Pure to come good again.
