Verdict

Front runners have an appalling record since the new surface was laid here so Roger Charlton appears to have found a straightforward opening for Deuxieme, who may have the race set up for her by the likes of Knead The Dough and Lakeside Guy. The last named acts well on the polytrack at Lingfield and should be seen to better effect than the dismal effort he put in at Folkestone when he was last seen out. However, he has been out of the action since August and might just need this to put him back on track. He is best watched today. Knead The Dough is another that has to banish the memory of a below par run from last time out; although he does have a legitimate excuse as he was hampered at around the half way stage of the race. It can be argued that he was looking held at the time and he now has a little to prove. Especially when the claims of Deuxieme are taken into account. Charlton has made it a policy in the past to seek out openings for horses of her type at this time of the year, and his meticulous planning can again reap a good dividend as Deuxieme sets out to prove the handicapper right that she is the best horse in the race.
