In depth

Verdict

Davids Mark can beat Malahide Express and White Ledger, with Desert Light and Harrison's Flyer also to be considered. Davids Mark relished the fast conditions when scoring at Windsor in August, and as he appears not badly treated and has won on this type of surface in the past, has the credentials to return to the winner's enclosure. Since that victory he has been beaten at Pontefract where the uphill finish seemed to find him out, and he may not have acted on Chepstow's undulating surface next time. He looks set to pay a major role here and gets the nod over Malahide Express who does not win too often, but made a bold bid to make all at Beverley last month. He too is not badly handicapped and should be in the shake-up. White Ledger picked up a couple of wins earlier in the season and hails from a yard that has had its best season so far, and makes slightly more appeal than stablemate Harrison's Flyer who has a penalty to overcome. Desert Light has been going close lately so also enters calculations, but for the winner we return to Davids Mark.
