Stringybark Creek won an apprentices’ race at Chelmsford recently and escapes a penalty. But this extra distance is a worry and STREET POET is preferred. The latter tumbled down the weights last year and a narrow-margin defeat at Newcastle last time suggests he can finally get his head in front off his current mark. New Abbey Angel was placed yet again here last time but has just the one win in 31 attempts while though Let Me In finished in front of Polar Forest when second over track and trip last time he never threatened the winner. Cat Royale also finished runner-up at the same meeting here but was still beaten eight lengths.
