    Verdict

Opera Writer has solid claims at the weights but Jim Boyle's gelding has given little sign for encouragement of late and a chance is taken with Zendaro, with Baby Barry and Second Reef rated the best of the remainder. The selection won a similar contest at Musselburgh last month and, while lack of Polytrack form is of concern, trainer Mark Brisbourne can usually be relied upon when sending his runners here. Second Reef also lacks any form on this surface and has struggled in handicaps of late but Eric Alston's gelding drops into a seller for the first time and has solid claims judged by BHB ratings so would not be without a chance in this lowly company. Baby Barry does have form on the Polytrack and can usually be relied upon to run his race but he may have to settle for a minor role along with Karl Burke's La Viola, who probably has too much to do at the weights. This is not a strong contest and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Zendaro.
