Verdict

RUMBLE OF THUNDER could complete a profitable evening for David Arbuthnot followers where Baron Otto, who looked to have found the soft ground all against him at Warwick last time and is the main danger. The selection has finished runner-up on his last two starts in nurseries while the form of his penultimate start has worked out well with the winner having run very well in a sales race subsequently. Baron Otto should be better suited by the all-weather surface here. It was disappointing that he failed to handle the ground at Warwick as he showed plenty on debut at Newbury, running on to good effect behind the main protagonists. Oriental Cavalier finished in front of Baron Otto in that Warwick contest. Given the fact Baron Otto failed to handle the surface it would come as no surprise if he reversed the form here. Oriental Cavalier was not disgraced on his nursery debut where he was squeezed up late on and although it did not effect his bid for victory, it did cost him ground. The twice raced Special Bond showed enough on debut that would make her one to consider although it was disappointing that she failed to fulfil the promise of her debut at Doncaster. Rumble Of Thunder is given the nomination to land it. (John McDonnell)
