Verdict

Linning Wine can score again at the expense of York Cliff, Play Master and My Pension. Linning Wine has been kept to the all-weather for some time now and finally got his head in front in first-time cheekpieces at Lingfield last month. There was talk of retiring him when he was with Brendan Powell, but Paul Blockley has been patient with the 10-year-old whose winning days may not be over just yet, given that he is back on a fair mark these days. York Cliff is only plating class these days, but won over further here the time before last when ridden by Eddie Ahern who is back in the plate today, so he looks a leading player as well. Play Master won over a mile here two years ago, and a couple of placed efforts of late suggest that he should be there or thereabouts as well, while My Pension is also a past course winner as is Paso Doble, so they are all worth a mention, but Linning Wine has already proved that he is not finished just yet and another success is very much on the cards.
