Verdict

It will be interesting to see how Utern gets on in his first start in a handicap having shown some ability over hurdles for Venetia Williams but he looks to be nothing out of the ordinary. Mark Brisbourne's Carter ran better over course and distance last time and has place claims, while Pertemps Networks only found one too good here last time but was beaten seven lengths. George Baker's Kenyan Cat is far from certain to stay this far and of more interest may be Brian Ellison's Nicholas Pocock, who has been given a chance by the handicapper but may also be a doubtful stayer. There are no problems about the trip for Tony Carroll's CARLTON SCROOP, who was good value for his win at Kempton at the beginning of the month and as he escapes a penalty for that win, he looks worth backing to score again.
