Verdict

The first division of a weak contest that should take little winning and the vote goes to Second Paige. Neil Graham's charge appeared to have lost his way towards the end of the turf season but ended a long losing sequence when taking advantage of a drop in grade to land a seller over this trip at Lingfield last month. The son of Nicolotte clearly appreciated the step up in trip to score with something in hand and is entitled to improve for his first outing for 10 weeks so should go well off his current mark. Open ground has claims on his Warwick victory in July but has become bitterly disappointing since including over hurdles and on the all-weather so can't be backed with confidence. Ela Jay is well treated on last season's form but remains a maiden and has no experience of this surface while veteran Jamaican Flight has been a fine stable servant down the years but is out of form at present.
