      Verdict

      FLOWERS ON VENUS was unbeaten in three starts in similar company last year at Lingfield. He also won a claimer over course and distance in 2016 and Jason Watson’s mount is well clear on official ratings in this. Toriano won a handicap over this trip at Lingfield at the start of the year. He’s been a little disappointing since but drops in grade and could be the one for forecast-backers ahead of Energia Flavio, who appears to be going backwards. The others have a mountain to climb on these terms.
