In depth

Verdict

A weak-looking maiden can go to the thoroughly exposed Impromptu ahead of Land's End and Titan Triumph. With a slight sense of foreboding doom ,Impromptu is given one more chance. Ralph Beckett's gelding has had plenty of chances but is yet to race on ground this soft; if it brings about any improvement then he must be involved in the finish. Live dangers look slightly thin on the ground. Jeremy Noseda is in good form and he saddles Land's End. This son of Danehill Dancer has been disappointing in two outings so far but he shapes as if a test of stamina is what he wants so if this becomes a slog in the mud he may do best. Dragon Flame looks moderate at best, as does the exposed Batchworth Flyer. Nouvea represents an in-from trainer in Richard Hannon but will need to improve ten-fold for this first try at six furlongs. Titan Triumph therefore becomes the main danger as he returns from a break. He tends to pull so the drop a furlong in trip looks a good move and he should go well. If Impromptu cannot win this then he may never win, and thus he gets the vote in the last chance saloon.
