    Verdict

Deserving gets the confident vote in this maiden with Rapsgate and Strut rating the main dangers. The selection has been second in both his runs to date but a reproduction of his latest second behind Qusoor sets the standard in the context of this race, and he need only run up to that mark to score. Rapsgate rates the main danger on his best form but he was very disappointing for no apparent reason last time out so cannot be put forward with any confidence. Strut was a fair fifth behind the highly regarded Silca's Sister last time out, this looks easier and she is another that has definite place claims. Of the remainder, Black Jade is an Averti colt out of and unraced mare and is another to note in the market, but for the winner we return to Deserving.
