In depth

Verdict

A field of 20 go to post in the finale, which on paper is a competitive affair. However a few of these have a chance on form and the top weights of ASH MOON and MOST SAUCY are taken to fight out the finish from THORNTOUN GOLD. Although ASH MOON has not won for over three years, the significant jockey booking of Kieren Fallon surely enhances her chances. On previous occasions this year she has failed to get a clear run and at Pontefract ten days ago was beaten by Luca Cumani's progressive Windy Britain. A reproduction of that form should see her in the winner's enclosure. Ian Wood has three in the race and MOST SAUCY and THORNTOUN GOLD are taken to fill the placings. MOST SAUCY has now dropped to a winning mark and with the useful apprentice DAVID NOLAN claiming 5lb is sure to go close. Jimmy Quinn teams up with THORNTOUN GOLD for which is a tip in itself having won three times over the course on the horse last summer
