Verdict

The Paul Nicholls-trained Red Devil Robert deserves to get his head in front after some fine placed efforts but may again have to settle for a minor role behind El Vaquero, who is preferred to Widemouth Bay. The last mentioned has failed to progress since scoring at Exeter in November but may appreciate the step up in trip. Red Devil Robert's trainer Paul Nicholls is also represented by Blue Business who showed enough at Taunton behind Willie John Daly last time to suggest that he could take a hand, while Beau Supreme can be expected to run his usual good race. However, the one they all have to beat is Henrietta Knight's El Vaquero. The son of Un Desperado has yet to open his account over hurdles but the six-year-old looked unlucky when falling three out in a competitive handicap at Sandown last time. A reproduction of his show there may be enough for El Vaquero to open his account.
