In depth

Verdict

Sutton Manor attempted to make all over the minimum on good ground at Fairyhouse but was reeled in by The West's Awake. Although he finished runner-up in a heavy-ground bumper previously, he was beaten a long way. Hughies Bay has had plenty of experience and ran his best race to date on heavy going at Listowel in September when only headed on the run-in. GUITAR GEORGE has made steady progress with each run and there was plenty to like about his second to Sanibel Island here last month. He's the type to make further progress and can go one better. The Irregular wasn't far behind in that latter race and can also improve while the longer trip can bring about further progress from Nanny Stone, who was staying on over the minimum at Galway. Sympa Des Flos would probably start a short-priced favourite in the unlikely event of getting a run from his reserve spot.
