In depth

Verdict

Arctic Zone landed a beginners' race over today's trip at Kilbeggan in June but ran poorly on her only subsequent start a month later. Ameretto Son was a surprise winner of a Punchestown handicap over today's trip last October but his three recent efforts have been far from convincing. Billie Beg ran a little better on just his fourth start over fences behind Old Hall here last month when Artiste Bay was just behind and Speedy Max well beaten but Fastey, despite a fine run over timber at Roscommon on Tuesday, has shown little so far over the bigger obstacles. It's almost exactly a year since LEEGANE landed a handicap chase over today's trip at Kilbeggan and though he's done little since it would be no surprise to see a return to form in a race that won't take much winning.
