Verdict

AWAY FOR SLATES (NAP) was returning from a lengthy absence when fourth at Lingfield. He found a second wind in the closing stages and will strip fitter here so gets the nod ahead of the in-form Mr Snoozy, who may not enjoy this softer surface. Thorpe has enjoyed a recent revival and can’t be ignored but maiden Road To Rome will need more to figure in a race like this. Becky The Thatcher has had a couple of runs on the Flat so should be cherry-ripe now but Mcvicar is best watched on his reappearance.
