In depth

Verdict

Canny Bay, Norman Beckett and Sea Venture make most appeal in this maiden hurdle and the vote is given to Canny Bay. The selection finished third behind Lazy Darren last time, form that has since been franked by the winner who scored in impressive fashion at Perth on Thursday. He goes on this ground and he looks to hold rock solid claims. Norman Beckett would have claims on the pick of his form but he hasn't won a race since 2006 and he has an absence to overcome today. Sea Venture has yet to win a race but he did go close at Wetherby back in November and a reproduction of that effort should see him competitive. Tucker showed improved form last time so he might be capable of making his presence felt, but Canny Bay makes plenty of appeal and he should be hard to beat.
