In depth

Verdict

LYCIDAS, rated 96 on the Flat, made a promising start over timber at Market Rasen before making all and demolishing his rivals at Kelso. That was on very fast ground and though he hasn't proved himself on soft going on the level he should defy a penalty. Armorous is flattered by his form figures having been beaten a long way when runner-up at Hexham then finishing last of three at Bangor. Robbing The Prey began his career with a decent effort in a Listowel bumper and ran well for a long way over 2m3f here last month so he can get into the frame while Dan Skelton sends the four-year-old Ulva Ferry to make his debut and he's one to note in the market. Eager To Know landed a point at Kinsale in June and has joined Micky Hammond though the main threat may prove to be Craggaknock, three times a winner on the Flat including on soft ground and rarely beaten far in decent handicap company.
