In depth

Verdict

A tough race to say the least and the Oliver Sherwood trained Global Strategy gets the vote as he steps back to 2 miles after failing to stay the 2m 5f trip last time out. Prominent for most of the journey he weakened tamely in the closing stages and is a tentative selection on ground that should not inconvenience him. Graham Lee is a notable booking for the top-weight Desert Rat who never travelled over the course last month when sent off favourite. He is worth noting in the market as something was clearly amiss. Support for the handicap debutant Apache Fort would be significant as he has been performing creditably on the level while others that are contenders for the frame are Site Sentry and Cartier Opera, who represents the Venetia Williams yard. In a hugely competitive race short on quality, Global Strategy gets the nod.
