    Verdict

The former Barney Curley inmate, Shouda, must be monitored closely in the market for his new yard but the choice is OUR PHYLLI VERA. Alan King's Motivator filly was travelling well when falling three out at Southwell on her handicap bow and, less exposed than her main rivals, inhabits a decent handicap mark in an ordinary-looking heat. She is taken to recoup those unfortunate Nottinghamshire losses at the prime expense of the consistent Arkaim, a fair enough second last time behind Lauberhorn at Huntingdon for the useful Sly and Andrews partnership. Prince Blackthorn needs to be considered at his best but has not been up to the task on his last two starts which rather tempers enthusiasm.
