In depth

Verdict

Sweet Ard can make a successful transition to hurdles at the expense of Dance Party who has a penalty to overcome, and the younger Pay Attention. Sweet Ard created a favourable impression when landing a bumper at the Yorkshire track on her debut here in November, quickening clear inside the final furlong, and as she is sure to have been well schooled since, can pay to follow. The fact that she receives weight from Dance party is encouraging, and Mick Easterby's mare has more to do than when winning two very moderate events at Sedgefield and Hexham since being put over hurdles. A bigger danger is likely to be Pay Attention who fulfilled promise on the Flat when scoring at Newcastle in August and who overcame some sketchy jumping to make a successful start over timber at Market Rasen in December. That was not the greatest of contests though and she will have to improve again against the selection. Of the rest, Art Affair took on Group company on the Flat in Germany, and Northern Shadows hails from a stable that always does very well here. Both should be noted in the market, but we reckon that Sweet Ard has the most potential and she can go in under Tony Dobbin.
