Verdict

This is a competitive affair to open the card with Quid Pro Quo, Racing Demon and Bugle Major the leading players and the vote is given to Quid Pro Quo. The selection was a good second behind Regents Walk in a decent race at Newbury last time, and if he can reproduce that effort here then he should take plenty of beating. Previous course winner Racing Demon rates the main danger as he is held in high regard by his connections, but he was a little disappointing last time and anything he achieves over hurdles will be a bonus as he looks an ideal chasing type. Bugle Major is interesting as he won a decent bumper at Huntingdon last time and he hails from a leading yard. But this looks a tough proposition on his hurdling bow and he will need to be quite useful to win this. Diamond Merchant fell on his hurdling debut and he was all-out to win last time on this track, so he is worth consideration over this slightly longer trip. This is a race with some potentially decent types in opposition and the vote is given to Quid Pro Quo.
