In depth

Verdict

This looks to be there for the taking for Tom's Prize as he reverts to hurdles after his fair effort in finishing eighth in the Henessey Gold Cup last time. Station Island, Meggies Lad and Toon Trooper make up the main body of the opposition and are expected to scrap it out for the minor honours. However, Tom's Prize has some rock solid form to his name and is only a novice over hurdles by default after a career mainly spent over fences. The eight-year-old has already proved that he knows how to win in this sphere and it will be something of a surprise if he cannot capitalise on what appears to be a soft opening for him.
