      Verdict

With none of those to have raced previously seemingly out of the ordinary this may go to one of the newcomers with Tafaahum preferred to Soulacroix and Total Force. The last mentioned is a son of Night Shift trained by Richard Hannon, whose two-year-old runners always warrant respect. Soulacroix is bred to do better over further and Tafaahum makes more appeal. Mark Johnston has done well with his juvenile¿s first time out this term and this son of Derby winner Erhaab is well related. He may be forward enough to make a winning debut. Of those to have raced, Newmarket third Maren has obvious claims but was well beaten at headquarters, Sir Michael Stoute's Major Effort is undoubtedly better than he showed on his debut, as is John Dunlop's Growler, while Carlburg and Hatch have the benefit of having raced more than once. However, Tafaahum would not need to be a world-beater to take a hand here and gets the verdict.
