Verdict

David Pipe may have found a good opportunity for Pure Genius to break her duck but we prefer to side with Figurita, while Cornelia and Romping Home can also go well. Charlie Mann-trained Figurita is bred to stay and gets a trip and some soft ground to put that stamina to the test here. The mare made a pleasing, if quiet enough, hurdles debut at Bangor last time but looked more than likely to improve for the outing and can come good here. Pure Genius has the best form on the board of this lot, a soft ground Newbury run before Christmas. However, David Pipe's mare ran no sort of race last time at Exeter and does not look one to lump on. Kingfisher Niamh looks more likely to progress over fences and Romping Home looks a better proposition today. Don McCain's runner put up a good effort in context at Chepstow last time and will be suited by conditions here so should go close. Of the remainder Cornelia has some positive course form which is a plus around here, but has to overcome a thrashing last time when stepped up to this trip, and so we are happy to side with likely improver Figurita.
