In depth

Verdict

Not many of these can be given a serious chance and the vote in a poor contest goes to Serious Position, who is preferred to Who Cares Wins and Physical Graffiti. The last mentioned won well at Leicester in similar company at the beginning of February but has struggled in two starts since and the handicapper seems to have his measure. At The Double has claims on the form shown when successful at Fontwell but has disappointed since then and may not be suited by the drop in trip today. A market move for the reappearing Hidden Smile would be of interest but a bigger threat is likely to come from Who Cares Wins. Admittedly the John Jenkins-trained nine-year-old has shown little in his last two starts but earlier form is solid in the context of this race and Jenkins has booked Tony McCoy for the ride. Macreater faces no easy task from 5lbs out of the handicap and a safer bet looks to be Serious Position, who showed improved form in a non-handicap seller here last time and a reproduction of that effort today may suffice.
