Verdict

The Staggery Boy, Amptina and hat-trick seeking Terrible Tenant look the main three to concentrate on with the vote going to the last named. Seamus Mullins has his contender in fine fettle this Spring, and after finishing a good second over two mile three furlongs back in March he has not looked back since. He followed up with a win over course and distance which is important due to the fact that this track only suits certain horses, then followed up with another convincing win at Hereford. The rise in the weights wont make things easier but he still looks one step ahead. The Staggery Boy has been a good servant and showed he is still capable of success with a win at Fontwell last month. He did not perform the same nine days later though and whether it was the extra weight he carried or a quick reappearance that affected him, but what it does mean is that he has questions to answer. Amptina has a good racing weight and on a stiff track that will help. His reappearance run at Worcester was a pleasing one finishing a good second to Ampadi. He is entitled to come on for that and could be a threat. But for the winner we return to Terrible Tenant
