In depth

Verdict

Darling Maltaix made the expected improvement here earlier this month after a modest first run at Newton Abbot but does not look one of his stable's stars. Contented looked one-paced at Wincanton so may appreciate the step up in trip but SHOAL BAY didn't disappoint when well backed in a Worcester bumper last month and Colin Tizzard is wasting no time putting the four-year-old over hurdles given he is bred to be a jumper. Present Destiny showed some ability last season but is likely to do better in handicaps.
