In depth

Verdict

This could rest between the two newcomers Penzance and Amarula Ridge, we will side with the first named, Odagh Odyssey could prove best of the experienced runners. Alan King is having a terrific season and boasts a near 25 percent strike rate with his hurdlers. Penzance can add to that tally, this son of Pennekamp was a decent handicapper on the flat and in fact won a Nottingham handicap off a mark of 78. He will have been well schooled by his talented handler and looks well worth a small wager. Amarula Ridge hails from the Philip Hobbs yard and this classy Irish performer has to be a big danger to the selection. He contested some top races last season including the Irish 2000 guineas and if he takes to this game could go a long way. Odagh Odyssey was successful in a modest event at Exeter, and hasn't really progressed from that effort, however he does look best of the remainder. But this should rest between the two debutantes and on this occasion we give the narrow vote to Penzance.
