In depth

Verdict

As usual in races of this nature, the market will give a solid indication towards which horses have been putting in solid work at home and a keen eye should be kept open for a springer in the betting. However, Nordic Prince is a very useful tool at this level and he is given a slender vote over Ashgar and Dan De Man, who are fancied to scrap it out for the minor honours. The selection returns after the best part of a year on the sidelines but hails from a yard that are more than capable of getting one ready for a race like this. That fact is backed up by the 12-year-old's record when fresh and, as a three-time winner at this track in the past, he knows exactly what is required to find his way home. Grand Prompt is another to consider but he dropped out tamely at Folkestone last time is one for the brave only. Therefore, Ashgar, who did little wrong in defeat behind a rejuvenated Shayadi last time, is taken to give Nordic Prince the most to do.
