In depth

Verdict

A poor start to proceedings can see Charlie Delta come out on top over He's A Rocket and Spirit Of Coniston. Charlie Delta is in to be claimed for ¿15,000 and as such is set to carry topweight of 9st 9lb. However, that seems fair on the evidence gained so far, and on the strength of his recent handicap third to California Laws at Southwell, Declan Carroll's charge is the pick, despite a drop back to the minimum trip today. He's A Rocket may give him most to do, but in truth he has gone right off the boil after some credible efforts last term and is worth taking on, while Spirit Of Coniston hails from a stable that is coming back to form, and so may give a good account without being good enough. All in all, this looks best left to Charlie Delta.
