    Verdict

Pharoah's Gold is the pick ahead of Shotacross The Bow, McQueen and Ovigo. Derek Shaw's five-year-old was highly thought of when in the care of Willie Jarvis as a juvenile, and was nominated for the Goffs Challenge after his Nottingham debut win. A creditable sixth at the Irish track, things did not go right for him after, and his victories have been confined to the all-weather, including three times here. They were all over shorter trips than today's, but he proved he stays the mile when scoring at Wolverhampton last time. There is no reason why he should not go well again here from his low draw and he gets the vote. Shotacross The Bow returned to form over the course and distance the time before last, but takes on slightly better opposition this time. McQueen comes from an in-form yard and has been placed on a few occasions, so is one for the frame maybe. Any money in the ring for Ovigo should be noted as he comes from a very shrewd yard indeed, but overall, the percentage call has to be Pharoah's Gold and he gets the vote.
