In depth

Verdict

Taxman is the pick over the likes of Extra Cover, Woolstone Boy and Considine to name but three. Clive Brittain's charge came good at Newcastle at the end of last month when put back up to two miles, and although dropped back in trip here for his first visit to Southwell, he is well treated and should go close. Extra Cover was disappointing at Newcastle last time, given his earlier efforts at Pontefract, but although little better than plating class, he can figure in the shake-up along with Woolstone Boy who seeks a hat-trick after two successes here. He carries a penalty and is also dropped back in trip, but is in good heart as he prepares to embark on a career over hurdles in due course. Considine makes a quick reappearance after finishing down the field in the Cesarewitch and is well handicapped compared to his Turf form, while Kentucky Bullet has more to do than when landing a Banded event here last week. Taxman is gradually getting the hang of things, and is taken to come out on top again.
