In depth

Verdict

A pretty weak claimer and we will take a chance on Nod's Nephew with Crusoe, and Bulawayo set to chase him home. Nod's Nephew was in excellent form during the summer winning at Lingfield and Chepstow and his recent comeback effort here was full of promise. He looked in need of the outing but still got within alength of Grub Street. Crusoe ran well in a claiming race at Wolverhampton back in February, finishing a close third behind Scottish River. He has put in two stinkers since then, but they were too bad to be true and we expect him to bounce back to form under top jockey Darryl Holland. It is a similar story with Bulawayo, Andrew Reid's colt ran a blinder to finish runner-up to Ally Makbul in the middle of last month, but ten days later was well beaten by Dancing King, although that was a better contest. Noble Pursuit was well beaten in a better contest last time but on previous efforts could be good enough to sneak into a place, however for the winner we return to Nod's Nephew..
