Verdict

VULCANITE was a very useful handicapper on the Flat for Ralph Beckett, winning five times from just a dozen starts. He made a very promising debut over timber behind the well regarded Tetlami at Kempton on King George Day and shouldn't have too much trouble taking this before going on to much better things. Spiekeroog was in nowhere near that class on the level and has only shown moderate form in two starts over timber but he's with the right yard to show some improvement. Fiveways won two bumpers and finished runner-up at Cheltenham in the other but he's made no impression in two runs over hurdles. Vivre Libre, a winner on the Flat in France, is likely to prove better than he's shown so far for new connections.
