In depth

Verdict

Don Pasquale is going the right way and can come out on top over Government and Wodhill Schnaps, with Spy Gun also worth a mention. Don Pasquale is still a maiden after 22 career starts, but there is every reason to believe that he will break his duck soon based on his latest effort when third in an apprentice affair at Wolverhampton. Ridden by Sonia Eaton then, he now has the assistance of Micky Fenton and will benefit from his strong handling. He failed to score over hurdles, and has been found wanting over middle distances on the level, but today's trip, off a very decent mark compared to his past Turf ratings, gives him a sound chance in this company. Government has been tried over all kind of trips but seems best at seven furlongs on the Fibresand, while Wodhill Schnaps could be considered a little unlucky over track-and-trip last time, but has been hard to place. Spy Gun has a squeak on past form, but preference is for Don Pasquale.
