Verdict

Smadynium has often been the subject of market confidence and it wouldn't be the greatest of surprises to see him a popular order again having landed a touch at Musselburgh. It will be a tough task to concede a winners' penalty all around, however, so our preference is for BIG WATER. Alan Swinbank's gelding was outclassed at Aintree in the Champion bumper but he'd won two races before that rise in class and, crucially, one of those was obtained on soft ground at Ayr. Ballymartin King hasn't set the world alight as yet. A half-brother to the stable's Grade 1 winner Garruth, he is clearly one to watch with the future in mind. Hallmark Harry was an emphatic winner at Uttoxeter on his last start in 2010, so the market should give us a clue as to what to anticipate some 888 days later.
