    Verdict

First Trim, Mistress Cooper and Barbary Boy make the shortlist here with First Trim, a winner last time, taken to follow up. Mistress Cooper, a winner over the course and distance in September, does not have the fast ground she prefers, but ran well on her seasonal re-appearance to be third at Leicester. That was a solid effort however and she can reach a place. Barbary Boy enjoys cut in the ground, and having twice shown ability as a juvenile, he duly won on his seasonal bow at Beverley, holding on tenaciously in the closing stages. He will have come on for the run, and looks well treated and can go close. First Trim showed some ability as a juvenile in some decent contests, and she has progressed well this term, winning recently at Newmarket. Now the penny has dropped, First Trim, only three pounds higher here, can cut his rivals down.
