In depth

Verdict

Nightwatchman has hit peak form and can go in again, with Misternando and Dubai Seven Stars the best of his rivals. Nightwatchman has been brought along steadily by William Muir, and rewarded connections' patience by beating the odds-on Nadeszhda at Wolverhampton recently. That victory was not entirely unexpected after some good efforts earlier by the gelding and he looks well enough treated here to follow up. Misternando has won four of his last five starts and it could well be a straight five if Sam Hitchcott had not come out the side door when looking the likely winner at Yarmouth the time before last. However, he is creeping up the weights and his run may be over. Dubai Seven Stars has topweight to overcome but is no stranger to taking on useful opposition. Her Warwick success was her first in 21 starts on the level, but if she is to go for the Cesarewitch again, Martin Pipe will want to see a good performance. She may be in the shake-up but will do well to give weight away to the selection, Nightwatchman.
