RIO TINTO is selected to land this maiden, with Mavalenta a potential danger and Mutanaker the most interesting newcomer. The last-named is saddled by Sir Michael Stoute, whose string is going well. This Cape Cross gelding should relish the rattling fast ground and there is plenty in his pedigree to suggest that this 120,000 guineas purchase can go very well over the trip, so he is feared. Mavalenta went close to winning a Kempton maiden in April, but has been thrashed twice since then. The return to this trip is a plus, and she really ought to act on the ground, but she does have a bit to prove. Eastern Paramour needs to improve to win this but was heading in the right direction at Lingfield last time, but preference is with Rio Tinto. Another runner on the up, Mahmood Al Zaroony's colt showed a fair bit of improvement for his first run when tried at Sandown earlier in the month. He was still plenty green enough that day so there looks to be more to come and he is taken to get it right this time.
