        Verdict

        Eternal Path will need to settle better but she has the look of an improver and can reward backers at the third time of asking, with Fretwork and Usk Melody the two for the shortlist. Sir Michael Stoute's horses have been in good form of late and the selection should be fit after her recent reappearance. She has a tendency to pull too hard in the early stages which doesn't help, however she won't mind nay easing in the ground and looks the major player. Fretwork was disappointing last time out but her efforts as a juvenile were solid and with this step up in trip expected to suit, she cannot be left out of calculations. Usk Melody is back in more suitable company after contesting the Cheshire Oaks last week. However her two best runs last year came on sharp left-handed tracks so with conditions different today, she is opposed. Mercury Blue warrants respect on debut but Sylvester Kirk's horses normally need the run so for that reason the daughter of Montjeu is opposed. Esclarmonde is another newcomer to monitor for signs of confidence in the market, however Eternal Path is given one more chance to get her head in front.
