    Verdict

Not a particularly strong race on paper and MARIA MONTEZ might just be good enough to win this on her seasonal reappearance. Barry Hills' filly proved particularly consistent last summer and was a winner over course and distance. There has clearly been a reason for her absence but she cannot be ruled out if genuinely fast ground remains. Vallarta has yet to add to his Newbury maiden success from 2012 and he has continued to infuriate his followers ever since. The visor is reinstated in an effort to persuade him into an overdue victory. Lady Phill has been dropping significantly down the weights this term and Michael Appleby's filly is now racing off a mark 20lb lower than the figure she was campaigned off some 12 months ago. Italian Tom holds a series of engagements this weekend and needs to leave a modest run at Windsor behind.
