In depth

Verdict

Given A Choice has a lot more to do off a 7lb higher mark than when scoring at Redcar last time and a safer bet looks to Red Racketeer, who is preferred to Dahman. The last mentioned represents the Godolphin stable that has seen an upturn in their fortunes of late and is probably better than he showed on his handicap debut on unsuitably soft ground last time. Pat Haslam's Patxaran has done little wrong this term but the handicapper may just have her measure now, while Market Trend has not progressed as much as may have been expected but has been freshened up by a break. The Barry Hills-trained Ceiriog Valley has claims on the pick of his form but is becoming frustrating, while Vale de Lobo has disappointed in her last two starts. The vote then goes to Red Racketeer who came back well, after a break, on his favoured fast ground here at the beginning of the month and is taken to defy a 7lb rise in the weights.
