In depth

Verdict

Tombi showed promise on his Pontefract debut on a softish surface and should be as effective on today's faster ground as should course and distance runner-up Prince Rossi but Kevin Ryan has done well with his two-year-olds all season and preference is for his representative Gweebarra. The selection's trainer has a line through stablemate Prince Golan to Prince Rossi and it would come as no surprise to see the son of Lomitas make a winning debut. As is the case with most of Tim Easterby's youngsters, Rosbay stepped up on his debut effort when a close fourth behind Blue Madeira in the soft at Ayr last time and has to be respected here, while Skye But N Ben is entitled to come on for his Pontefract debut but needs to if he is to trouble the judge. Ronnie Howe comes from a yard in form and has to be respected under conditions that should suit but Gweebarra makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and is taken to provide Kevin Ryan with another juvenile winner.
