In a most competitive affair, it is in-form Bailieborough that is saddled with the vote ahead of South Cape, Nanton, Fremen and the rest. Brian Ellison has brought Bailieborough to concert pitch at the the right time judged on his latest exploits, the seven-year-old having gained back-to-back victories over the course-and-distance in recent weeks. He lost nothing in defeat to Glencalvie at Yarmouth last time, and that form has already been franked by the success of the third home, My Princess, at Brighton. South Cape has been knocking at the door lately, with seconds at Sandown and Ascot entitling him to be on the short-list along with Nanton who broke the course record here on his last visit. Since claimed from Paul Cole by Noel Wilson, the gelding will again be partnered by Jimmy Quinn, and is expected to run a big race. He should at the very least hold Fremen on that last line of form, and looks a banker for the frame. Last year's winner Jubilee Street is another that has come good at the right time, while Flipando is dangerous to rule out, but he needs things to fall right, given his style of running. Bailieborough has done nothing wrong, and should make a bold bid.
