Verdict

A market check¿s advised as ever but Classic Contours wouldn¿t be the first Swinbank juvenile to improve significantly on his debut form and he¿s the suggestion here with Courageous an interesting newcomer and Thunderball, arguably the form pick, viable alternatives. Alan Swinbank¿s juveniles often benefited greatly from their initial outings last season and it wasn¿t until around this time last year that the yard¿s two year-olds began to win races. The American bred selection didn¿t fare too badly on debut at Carlisle over six furlongs despite only beating a couple home as those in front appear to be a fairly useful bunch; this step up in trip will suit and, with improvement expected, he should take closer order this afternoon. Support for the Brian Smart trained Courageous would clearly be of interest given that the trainer has a strong hand in this division. He was a fairly expensive purchase at 230,000 euros and looks the part on paper as one would expect; it would be no surprise to see him go well. Thunderball stepped up on the form of his debut to finish third at Doncaster last time and may well be able to step up again; he¿s the one to beat on the form book and is respected. Justonefortheroad, Berriedale and Fizzy Friend are others worthy of a cursory glance but we¿ll be taking a chance with Classic Contours.
